#WeddingzRewind: 5 Best Shaadi Films of the Decade!

During the last 10 years, we have witnessed some of the most groundbreaking stories, movies and characters in the Hindi film industry. Since the decade is coming to an end in a few days, why not take a look back at some of the best wedding movies that Bollywood churned out?

Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewaani

Bunny and Naina’s story gave us all the mushy feels but more than that, we also got to see Bollywood’s version of a ‘big fat Indian wedding’. A palace wedding with all the glitz and glamour than comes by being a part of such a lavish occasion. While the first half of the film focuses on a fun trip that took place 8 years ago, the second half is set in the present and solely about the happenings of Aditi and Taran’s wedding. From Badtameez Dil to Dilliwaali Girlfriend, almost every song in this film belongs on your wedding playlist.

Veere Di Wedding

It’s a story of four female friends (veere) coming together to celebrate one of their veere’s wedding. The movie focuses on their individual lives as well as the pre-wedding jitters and anxiety a person can experience. The plot revolves around Kalindi’s (Kareena Kapoor Khan) wedding to Rishabh (Sumeet Vyas) and her hesitation in going ahead with the entire thing since she comes from a broken family and has notions about the entire concept of marriage.

2 States

Loosely based on Chetan Bhagat’s own love story, 2 states is about Punjabi boy Krish and Tamil Brahmin girl Ananya who fall in love and try their best to convince their polar opposite families. The entire movie traces the couple building their relationship, each of them trying their best to appease the other one’s parents and finally, even going on a trip with both sets of parents. The film wins hearts for accurately depicting all the trouble that an Indian couple has to face to finally be able to celebrate their day of love.

Band Baaja Baaraat

What’s more of a wedding centric-movie than Band Baaja Baraat? Ranveer Singh’s debut and Anushka Sharma’s second movie, this blockbuster made you laugh, root for the couple, get mesmerised at the weddings they organised and eventually, walk out of the movie theatre, satisfied and content.

Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania

A story about how Kaavya (Alia Bhatt) and Humpty (Varun Dhawan) fall unknowingly fall in love with each other while the former comes to Delhi in search for her dream bridal lehenga to get married to Angad (Siddharth Shukla). Agreed, there are some illogical moments but as a whole, the movie is a total paisa vasool. The songs are an added bonus, ranging from thumping beats to soothing tunes.

Make sure to watch these films before the decade ends!
