Aditya & Disha Kerala : Amidst glistening backwaters and lush greenery, this couple got hitched in Kerala!

Aditya & Disha Kerala : Amidst glistening backwaters and lush greenery, this couple got hitched in Kerala!

A groom who designed his own outfits, perfect colour coordination, breathtaking themes and an enviable location- this wedding is major goals for nature-loving couples!!

About the couple..

Disha and Aditya met through a traditional arranged marriage platform and after a few meetings they decided that they had found the right partners for themselves and wanted to tie the knot.

“As a couple we always believed in one thing – Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress and working together is success! We hold this very close to our hearts, and lived through it right from the time of our courtship, through our wedding days and only continue to strengthen this over time.”

Both were originally from Mumbai, however, Aditya had settled in New York due to work. This meant they had to carry out the entire wedding planning process over the phone, which was definitely not going to be an easy task!

The decided to personally curate all the wedding festivities, while simultanoeusly getting to know each other better. For the couple, making important decisions pertaining to their D-day, sitting miles away was harder than they had imagined, but they managed to pull it off excellently.

The Proposal..

Disha and Aditya had since long set their eyes on Pavna Lake as a hotspot where they wanted their pre-wedding shoot to take place. They even decided to live in a treehouse set up at The Machan. From the very start, Aditya knew that he wanted to propose to the girl of his dreams at THIS very spot.

After a hectic day filled with activities, he as part of his plan, took Disha on a romantic walk in the woods, while their room was being decorated. On their return to the room, Disha couldn’t believe her eyes! It was absolutely magical and surreal. Aditya went down on his knees and proposed to her.  He had won her heart and she was absolutely dumbfounded and awestruck with the efforts that he had taken to make it special for her!

The Wedding Festivities..

“I always envisioned my wedding in a particular way, and it was the same for Aditya – we were glad to be aligned on the kind of wedding we desired and were elated to plan and curate it all by ourselves.”

From the moment Disha and Aditya planned to get hitched, they had decided that they wanted to have a wedding which would be a rather intimate affair, closer to nature. With serene surroundings, lush greenery and backwaters, Kerala seemed like a hotspot for them.

Welcoming (Svagatam) and pre-wedding shoot

The couple had a pre-wedding shoot which encompassed a western them on a houseboat, overloaded with the rich local culture!

Dressed up in traditional lungis and sarees, the families of the bride and groom welcomed the wedding guests a la mode- with coconut leaf garlands, tikkas and playing the chenda melam or Kerala dhol.

Sundowner Mehendi

This flea market themed mehendi had all the ingredients of a chilled-out and beautiful ceremony. From the logo to the creatives and the invites- every element of the Mehendi function was designed personally by the couple.

Since the gorgeous bride loves flowers, water and everything beautiful, the mehendi  ceremony had floral hues.

The couple and their guests indulged in fun-filled activities and games like beer pong and jenga.

Moroccon Sangeet and Cocktail

Disha and Aditya were totally smitten by the idea of spending their honeymoon at Morocco, reason being they decided to have a function with a related theme.

With intricate Zelij patterns, lanterns and fez hats and the couple dressed in emerald green and gold, the decor and outfits did complete justice to the theme and left us super impressed!!

But what stole our hearts was the bride who aced the sangeet with her entertaining and dhamakedaar dance performances on famous Bollywood songs.

Haldi

One of the most awaited ceremonies, especially for the groom’s squad. The only time they could publicly humiliate Aditya and successfully get away with it. The Sindhis have a tradition of tearing the groom’s clothes during the Haldi ceremony and yes they did it just right!

Wedding

The groom’s entry on a boat, took us by surprise and we love the idea! The amphitheatre-inspired decor was classy and subtle, with hues of onion pink, ivory and peach.

Reception

Post the wedding ceremonies, Disha was to leave India with Aditya and settle down in New York. This was the reason why they wanted to experiment with the decor and add some elements to signify this. The theme was western with a rustic and vintage vibe to it. With a cosy corner displaying the polaroid clicks of the wedding and a campfire setting, the reception stood out and was a grand success!

The couple took keen interest in making the most important day of their life, memorable and something they could cherish for the rest of their lives. The colour coordinated outfits, the whimsical themes, the decor and undoubtedly the picturesque surroundings made this wedding drool-worthy!!
