10 foods brides-to-be should avoid if they want to fit into their lehenga!

You wake up on your wedding day only to find out that the perfect lehenga you were waiting to adorn, doesn’t fit you anymore!!
Reason? You have binged on food you shouldn’t have and now it’s too late for you to get it altered!

Nightmarish enough??

Well, in that case it’s best to keep away from certain types of foods and ingredients, at least a month before your D-day! Afterall, it’s every bride’s dream to look radiant and perfect at her wedding ceremony!

Here are some foods you should definitely avoid and why you should avoid them:

1.Salty foods

Why to avoid?

Salty foods are a BIG NO before you wedding! Excess of salty foods could lead to water retention, which you definitely don’t want before your D-day. This can cause bloating and swelling, making it difficult for you to fit into your lehenga.

What to avoid?

Salted nuts, soups, pizzas, broths and stocks, processed cheese, tortillas, frozen meals.

2. Starchy foods

Why to avoid?

Consuming excess of starchy foods can make you feel more hungry and also cause bloating or weight gain, which at this juncture you should definitely avoid. However, it is advisable to not completely cut out carbs from your diet. It’s important to consume them in small quantities.

What to avoid?

Cornmeal, pretzels, oats, instant noodles, tortillas, white bread.

3. Carbonated drinks

Why to avoid?

The primary reason to avoid these is the amount of excess sugar they contain, leading to weight gain issues. This can cause belly fat accumulation, which is an absolute disaster before your wedding.

What to avoid?

Excess consumption of sugary drinks. It is also advisable to avoid drinks with artificial sweeteners.

4. Spiced food

Why to avoid?

Spicy foods contain chilli peppers which contains capsaicin. Having moderately spicy food is not harmful. However having super spicy food items for a long period can cause irritation to the stomach lining, ulcers, sore throat and heartburn

What to avoid?

Salsa sauces, spicy sauces, jalapenos, peppers.

5. Caffeine

Why to avoid?

Having too much caffeine can result in disrupted sleep and increased anxiety levels, Something you definitely wanted to avoid before your D-day! It’s best to limit the consumption or avoid having it.

What to avoid?

Surprisingly, a number of foods also have caffeine content, such as chocolate, frozen yoghurt, ice creams, breakfast cereal and hot cocoa.

6. Alcohol

Why to avoid?

You don’t want to be waking up with puffy eyes and a bloated belly on your special day, do you???

Of course not. This is why it is a bad idea to consume alcohol before your wedding.

What to avoid?

Beer should be avoided first and foremost. Even if you consume it make sure you drink a lot of water post that.

7. Artificial sweeteners

Why to avoid?

Having artificial sweeteners can cause weight gain in the long run. It could also cause a stronger craving for sweet foods and decreases the ‘good bacteria’ in the body.

What to avoid?

Sugar candies, aerated drinks, canned jams and jellies.

8. Cruciferous vegetables

Why to avoid?

Although these vegetables are good for your health, it is extremely difficult for your body to break down these foods, causing issues in digestion resulting in gas. This is something you would definitely want to avoid on your wedding.

What to avoid?

Cauliflower, broccoli, kale, brussels, cabbage.

9. Milk and Dairy products

Why to avoid?

Milk and other dairy products can lead to bloating of the stomach. This is because they are difficult to digest. Cheese and yoghurt especially, could lead to weight gain if consumed in large quantities.

What to avoid?

Cheese, milk, butter, cottage cheese, yoghurt.

P.S- If you are still crazy about dairy products and cannot let go of them, then go in for low fat cheese and skimmed milk instead.

10. Junk Food

Why to avoid?

Junk food or fast food as we call it is loaded with calories and fat. A major contributor to rapid weight gain. You don’t want to end up not fitting into the lehenga on the very day of your wedding ceremony!

What to avoid?

Pizza, burgers, french fries, wedges, cookies, cakes, chips.

So, which foods are you planning to revoke from your diet already?
