Many of us often fantasize about spending our honeymoon on an island- white sandy beaches, peace and tranquil, the sound of the waves lashing against the rocks, sumptuous seafood, a chance to take a dip in the ocean and of course many romantic moments spent with our better half!

Who wouldn’t want to spend such an amazing time, away from the hullabaloo of city life?

 

I have got you some island destinations that are relatively lesser known, but perfect getaways for a quiet, romantic honeymoon, just as you envisioned:

 

1.Quibble island, Tamil Nadu

A rather peaceful and quiet getaway from all the hullabaloo, this island is a perfect honeymoon destination for couples who want some peace and privacy!

 

Attractions: Churches and architecture

Best time to visit: April to June and September to November

How to reach: It will take you forty minutes to reach Adyar from Central Chennai. Thereafter, you could take a ferry to the island.  

 

2. Umananda island, Andaman

A small island in Assam, this island is a rather unconventional honeymoon destination for couples who are keen on exploring some unseen spots.

 

Attractions: Umananda temple

Best time to visit: October to May

How to reach: You can take a ferry from Guwahati

 

3. Netrani island, Karnataka

This island located off the coast of Karnataka is also referred to as the ‘Pigeon island’. View from above makes this island appear as heart-shaped. What better place to spend your honeymoon?

 

Attractions: Silver beaches, pilgrimage spots.

Best time to visit: December and January

How to reach: You could take a boat from Bhaatkal. If you are planning to take a flight, the nearest airport is Murudeshwar.

 

4. Bhavani island, Andhra Pradesh

Visit this spot for your honeymoon to enjoy water slides, thrilling adventures and soak in a perfect sunrise and sunset. Spend some quality time with your loved one at this perfect island!

 

Attractions: Undavalli caves, Rajiv Gandhi Park.

Best time to visit:October to March

How to reach: Take a ferry from Punnami ghat to reach the shores of Vijaywada. From here you could take an auto or taxi.

 

5. Agatti island, Lakshadweep

White sand beaches and beautiful lagoons make this a highly viable honeymoon destination spot for a romantic time with your loved one.

 

Attractions: Bangaram island, coral reefs

Best time to visit: October to May

How to reach: You could fly down to Kochi and then take a ferry or flight, further to Lakshadweep.

 

6. Hope island. Andhra Pradesh

 

 

A small tadpole-shaped island off the coast of Kakinada, it is known for its biodiversity. You could explore the species of plants and animals and soak in the view of the bay.

 

Attractions: Beaches

Best time to visit: January to March and October to December

How to reach: It is around 36kms from the Rajamundhry Airport

 

7. Pamban island, Tamil Nadu

Having a breathtaking skyline dotted with coconut trees, this island is a good spot to enjoy the white sandy beaches. Not a very well known island, this connects you to Rameshwaram via a unique bridge.

 

Attractions: Dhanushkodi beach, Adam’s bridge, Ramar Patham temple.

Best time to visit: Any time of the year

How to reach: You could take a ferry ride to Rameshwaram or even a ferry.

 

8. Majuli island, Assam

One of the most unique islands in India, this is the biggest river island in the world! An unconventional spot, where you can get the flavour of Assamese culture to a whole new level. Enjoy traditional north eastern cuisine and don’t get paranoid if you find moss in place of sand on these beaches.

 

Attractions: Mishing village, 21 Satras, you can also try out mask painting.

Best time to visit: October to November

How to reach: You could fly down to Jorhat, which is just 20 minutes from your destination and then take a ferry to the island.

 

9. Diu island

Delectable seafood, breathtaking beaches, portuguese influence and the mesmerizing architecture, makes this island stand out!

 

Attractions: Diu Fort, Gageshwar temple, St Paul’s Church.

Best time to visit: October to January

How to reach: You could take a flight to Mumbai or a train to Una. However, keep in mind that Diu doesn’t have a railway station.

 

10. Havelock island, Andaman

The largest island in the Andaman and one of the famous coral islands across the country, this spot is loved by families and honeymooning couples.

 

Attractions: Elephant beach and Radhanagar beach. You could also enjoy scuba diving at this amazing island.

Best time to visit: February to June

How to reach: The best way to reach here is to take a ferry from Port Blair.
