5 Outfits From The 90’s Bollywood Movies Every Girl Has Dreamed Of Wearing At Her Wedding!

5 Outfits From The 90’s Bollywood Movies Every Girl Has Dreamed Of Wearing At Her Wedding!

If you are a 90’s kid, chances are everything related to the 90’s era will make you nostalgic. And Bollywood movies are no exception! Those films have always been the trendsetters when it comes to the fashion scene in India and especially weddings.

Have you ever found yourself often day-dreaming about Madhuri Dixit’s iconic green lehenga or the blue silk saree from Hum Aapke Hain Kaun? Is Kajol’s green outfit from the song Mehendi Laga Ke Rakhna your Mehendi outfit inspiration? Chances are you are not alone!

And on that note, we bring to you, our favourite picks from the 90’s bollywood movies every girl wants to wear at her wedding:

  1. 1. Madhuri Dixit’s purple saree:

The first one on our list has to be this iconic purple satin sari worn by Madhuri Dixit (now Nene)  in ‘Didi Tera Devar Deewana’. That backless blouse had become all the rage back then in almost all wedding scenes. Admit it: you tried to recreate the purple saree too!

And with the backless blouses making a major comeback in the wedding circles again, work on toning that bod a little longer in the gym and gear up to bringing sexy back.

2. Kajol’s green lehenga choli:

The song that evidently gained a cult status back then, is still the go-to song for all the wedding functions even after more than 2 decades now. Although what really caught everyone’s attention was the strikingly unique colour of the Punjabi lehenga-blouse worn by Kajol.

Also because, she broke the trend of wearing only reds and pinks in wedding functions.

Her minimal make-up, the gold detailing on the outfit paired with traditional jewellery and Kajol’s green eyes are everything that a bride-to-be can take inspiration for one of her wedding functions.

3. Aishwarya Rai’s purple  lehenga:

Dressed in a lavender-ish lehenga choli in the song ‘Chand Chupa hai’,  Aishwarya Rai Bachchan stole a million hearts. The sequined net dupatta became a sensation back then and found it’s way to every girl’s closet. (Admit it: We all have had an outfit with a similar dupatta).

That iconic look was styled brilliantly with minimal makeup and jewellery while bringing all the attention to just the dupatta. The look can be a major inspiration for a bride who knows minimal is indeed more, at least for just one function.

4. Kajol’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai lehenga:

Okay we know the scene starts of sad, but she does get her happy ending eventually. And in the middle of all the emotional drama of whom to choose between Rahul and Aman, Kajol’s lehenga needs to be paid attention to.

The dual-toned bridal lehenga paired with much heavier traditional gold jewellery is the perfect inspiration for a bride who is looking for a different colour palette other than reds and pinks.

5. Aishwarya Rai’s lehenga from the Nimbooda song:

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looks resplendent in this ankle-length blue ghagra. Beaded all over with a delicately edged dupatta, this embellished lehenga stands out in its unique shade completing the doe-eyed beauty.

It’s perfect for Mehendi or sangeet functions where the bride doesn’t wants to be bothered with those floor-length lehengas.
