Beach Love

How we salivate over those beaches! India has seen the emergence of beach-themed weddings in the recent years and it’s quite a hit with the youngsters. You could select destinations such as Goa, Andaman, Pondicherry or Kerala to host your wedding just by the sea! Romantic, isn’t it? Have your pheras done in a customised mandap with translucent dupattas or exchange the vows amidst ombre floral strings and curtains. If not pale colours, you can use bright red with coral for additional décor and make the wedding look more interesting.

You can also attach a starfish on the wedding invites as well as on the tables to add an accentuating touch to the theme. It could be Raffia tied over the guest’s chairs, a beach-themed wedding cake or miniature Adirondack chairs with starfishes as return gifts for the guests. Remember, everything you add to the wedding décor blends with the theme, so choose whimsical add-ons that will make your wedding day more memorable.

Walk down the aisle amidst lush green grasses and flowers, just like a fairytale. A wedding that will make you fall in love with every aspect of the theme. Choose a garden lawn and make it look more beautiful by personalising each of its décor elements and make your guests go ‘Wow’! If you plan to host your wedding in the daylight, use some bright floral décor and bows for the seating, it will add a vibrant touch to the occasion that is already lit up in natural sunlight! Or if your wedding is in the evening and will extend to late night, use some rustic bulbs over the long dining tables and fairy lights on the trees hanging in strings; wouldn’t it look like a dream wedding? A perfect view that is modernised in the traditional way! Adding tea light candles in clusters here and there in the garden will create a nice yet warm ambience for your special day! What are you waiting for? Go ahead and host your wedding in a garden theme.

Shimmery gold tones in décor with a bit of red or corals will make your wedding stand out. You can add fresh or faux floral arrangements on centrepieces and a nice touch of elegance to the décor. If you’ve decided to organise your wedding in a palace which also has poolside, you can surround it with small candles or even set some faux flowers float in the water to create a gorgeous atmosphere. Beautiful tea light candle holders also look great when left in the pool in the evening. But make sure you have the permission to do so! The colours you use for a royal wedding should not necessarily be red or coral; you can also use violet with gold and beige to give your wedding décor a lavish touch. Also, you can match the décor colours with your and groom’s wedding outfit for a more blended look!

Where else do you see grand, dramatic and ultra-lavish weddings other than our very own Bollywood? Full of colours and energy, a Bollywood-themed wedding will keep everyone on their toes. To create that look, make your reception stage and backdrop look like the awards night stage, with bright lighting and contrasting curtains. Also, you can use some Bollywood props near the stage like a fake movie projector or an oversized camera reel near the entrance. Flowers, when used creatively, can instantly change the look of the occasion. Instead of using exotic flowers, use the classic marigolds the way it was used in the mandaps of ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ and ‘Band Baaja Baraat’. Create some funky arrangements by combining the Bollywood theme colours with specific movie props and recreate the scene. For the Bollywood lovers, sounds interesting, doesn’t it?

Gone are the days when reds and yellows were the only colours used in Indian weddings. Want to make your wedding a stylish affair? Introduce a specific colour theme to surprise everyone! When selecting the colours, be well prepared to visit the venue! That’s a must as it will give you a clear idea of which colours will match and blend well with the interiors. If you choose an outdoor area for your big day, style it the way you want. Pastel colours with a contrasting, deeper colour will create a unique look for your big day. Pastel green and eggplant, peach and gold, teal and pale yellow all look great for an exquisite colour theme. Magenta and gold, silver and navy blue, green and yellow are great for putting together an intense colour combination for Indian weddings. So, go ahead and choose the colour that fits your wish list!

You’ve set the date and now have to invite your friends and family for your big day of the year. Well, if you want to organise your wedding in a distinctive way, throw your wedding reception with a season theme. So, check the calendar and do some research online to set things right for your wedding day. While organising a season-themed wedding, choose colours for the décor wisely and team it up with small yet whimsical props that keep everyone in the mood. Spruce it up and serve your guests cuisines that are made from season fruits. Like a mango ice-cream during summers or the hot and delicious gajar ka halva during the winters!
