You’re engaged! That means it is time to start planning your wedding. Selecting and finalising your wedding venue is not exactly a walk in the park. All the magical moments of your wedding takes place at the venue and it is no doubt, a big decision. Before finalising the venue, here are 7 things the couple should keep in mind: 

The Date

For many couples, it is a difficult pick between what is most important – the date or the venue. Generally, it goes hand-in-hand. If the date is set, it’s a matter of finalising the venue or if the couple has found the venue, they need to find a way to work it out with the dates available at the venue. 

Budget

It may be the venue of your dreams but there is no sense in spending an exorbitant amount of money on just the venue. Do some research on the average value spent on reserving a wedding venue and accordingly decide your budget as well. 

Accessibility

While travelling to and from the venue, keep a check of the time it takes to travel back and forth. Accessibility also means taking note of the different modes of transportation that guests can avail and if anybody wants to get their own car, what is the parking situation like. 

Amenities

While taking a tour, ask the concerned person what all amenities are available at the venue and what all can be accessed by the couple and wedding guests. Also, find out if there are any additional expenses for using these amenities. 

Restrictions

Every venue has a few legal and other restrictions that it needs to abide by to remain in business such as no loud music beyond a certain time, restricted entry into certain areas of the venue, no smoking, etc.

You may want a big fat Indian wedding if there is no breathing space for your wedding guests, it is going to turn into a big fat disaster. Always ask the concerned person at the venue how many people can be accommodated. You may have to rework on the guest list but that’s okay as long as you love the venue!

A venue can have an indoor section and an outdoor section. Take note of which note of which pre-wedding ceremony you would want to be arranged indoors and outdoors. Also, the weather plays an important role in deciding whether you want to have your ceremony indoors or outdoors.
