9 Most Expensive Bridal Attires of all Time

We have heard it time and time again that a wedding is an expensive affair. Each category and item within each requires a budget. One such is the wedding gown which, more often than not, ends up being the biggest contributor in wedding expense. But when you have the money and want the wedding of your dreams, you don’t mind digging deeper into your pocket to get your hands on the perfect wedding dress.

Bollywood and Hollywood has seen its fair share of extravagant weddings where the brides opted for some gorgeous wedding attires. Take a look at 9 such brides who shelled out big bucks for their wedding dress:

Victoria Swarovski

The heiress to the Swarovski empire wore a $1 million gown for her wedding to Werner Muerz. Embedded with 500,000 Swarovski crystals and a plunging neckline to add to the allure, this custom-made took the cake in terms of being luxurious!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Up until recently, the former Miss World held the title for the most expensive wedding attire. Designed by Neeta Lulla, the gorgeous wedding saree cost Rs. 70 lakhs, embellished with Swarovski crystals and gold threadwork. Enter Sonam Kapoor who dethroned Aishwarya Rai Bachchan from that first place!

Kim Kardashian West

Looking like an absolute dream, Kim Kardashian walked down the aisle in a custom-made Givenchy $500,000 gown to marry Kanye West. The floral fabric combined with the lace details, trumpet silhouette, full sleeves and sheer back panels made this wedding gown stand out and register itself as one of the most iconic outfits in celebrity bridal history.

Kareena Kapoor Khan

We all remember the iconic moment when Bollywood’s Poo opted to wear her mother-in-law’s regal wedding attire for her own court marriage, revamped by Ritu Kumar. But for the Reception ceremony, Kareena chose a Manish Malhotra creation which cost Rs. 50 lakhs.

Vera Wang

A rather peculiar choice, Vera Wang came together with 7 other designers to create her one-of-a-kind bridal gown using 2000 peacock feathers. Priced at a whopping $1.5 million, the unique gown attracted the attention of quite a few activists.

Shilpa Shetty

Not sure if she was able to loot UP Bihar but she stole our hearts with her apsara-like red wedding saree! Valued at Rs. 50 lakhs, the saree was designed by Tarun Tahiliani using 8000 Swarovski crystals. The dazzling creation turned out to be so special that Mr Tahiliani had to request Shilpa Shetty to allow him to showcase the saree!

The David and Elizabeth Emanuel creation featured antique lace gown from ivory silk taffeta, the eye-catching 25-foot train along with the 153-yard tulle veil and cost $151,00.
