Almost every girl wishes for a dreamy proposal and an equally magical wedding. For this couple, the proposal turned out to be something out of a fairytale…literally.
Filmmaker Lee Loechler and his cardiologist girlfriend had been dating since high school. Lee came up with this ingenious plan of proposing to his girlfriend while helping out a friend of his plan a proposal. A lot had to be taken into account to execute this proposal including working with an illustrator, Kayla Coombs for 6 months to animate himself and Sthuthi into her favourite Disney movie, Sleeping Beauty.
To make it as inconspicuous as possible, Lee had to post a request on Reddit, asking people to volunteer as the audience in the theatre while hiding the couple’s friends and family members at the back. From Sthuthi’s perplexed look at the sudden change in the appearance of the characters on screen to Lee finally getting down on one knee to propose to even drafting an alternative ending if Sthuthi was to say no, every aspect of this fairytale proposal won hearts on the Internet and went viral in no time.
The proposal video reached far and wide, including that in the hands of Mahindra Group chairman, Anand Mahindra who shared the video on Twitter and wrote “This clip has been going viral globally. This gent apparently hack-animated a Disney movie to propose to his childhood sweetheart… And I thought I had done a good job 40 yrs ago with my proposal. Now I have an inferiority complex!”
