Ravi & Anj Udaipur : ‘ When a dreamy London love affair ends up as a regal love marriage in Udaipur ’

Cupid struck Anj and Ravi when they were studying together at King’s College, London. The vibrant campus was their splendid setting for getting to know each other and becoming the best of friends. Sharing every joy and sorrow, studying, learning and exploring the city together, they soon realised that being in each other’s company was the highlight of their memories. And what followed a strong friendship was the beginning of a beautiful partnership. They started dating around 2014 and have been by each other’s side ever since.

The Proposal

Ravi surprised his lady love by landing up at her all girl’s vacation and proposing her in the most romantic manner! Reminiscing that day Anj says, “We had never even spoken about anything to do with marriage even though we always knew it would be each other. I was on a girls’ holiday in Mykonos and he flew out and surprised me and proposed. I have never been so speechless!”

 The man who can go the extra mile is the man to keep forever, isn’t it? 

The Wedding

Anj and Ravi’s wedding was an elaborate and lavish affair hosted at the heritage Fateh Garh property in Udaipur. They had a mehendi cum welcome party, followed by the haldi and Ganesh puja, wedding, sangeet, lit pool party and finally the reception! 

The first day commenced with the magical mehendi ceremony. Magical because the couple opted for a Marrakech-themed function with classic Arabic music as are fond of it. They had a perfume bar for guests to make their own scents as well as a mini souk with a bangle maker and parrot fortune teller for guests to keep them entertained. Their spectacularly done setting literally transported all to Marrakech and made a perfect backdrop for fun frames. Anj dazzled in a yellow Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor lehenga while Ravi complimented in a Varun Bahl floral jacket with white kurta-pyjama.  

The next day began with the Ganesh Puja followed by Haldi. They opted for vibrant colours in terms of décor. As it was a morning puja, the idea was to use bright pinks and yellows and embrace the fact we were in the rich Rajasthani land of colours and zest. The bride looked like a dream in a classic floral Sabyasachi saree for the event whereas the groom chose another Varun Bahl creation.  

The same afternoon the couple had their marriage ceremony on the venue’s main terrace in front of the pool, surrounded by a stunning encompassing view. Anj literally looked like a royal princess in her silver and red Manish Malhotra lehenga. Ravi looked no less than a prince in a custom made Varun Bahl sherwani. 

That evening the couple hosted their sangeet. They zeroed in for an enchanted forest theme.  They also wanted to incorporate their love for Disney into the themes. Hence the decor ranged from fine floral, artistic ferns to retro clocks, books and candles. They also had unique cocktails (e.g. popping candy, candy floss cocktails) and a botanical gin bar that let out a perfect fairyland meets forest vibe. For this event, Anj rocked in a Manish Malhotra ruffled black blouse and gold-rose lehenga. Ravi stuck to his favourite designer Varun Bahl and chose an elegant floral bandhgala.

After a packed day, the couple decided to ease things out with a pool party the following day. This was a super chilled day for all guests who only had to unwind in the pool and enjoy the elaborately laid-out brunch. The decor for this day was a Mykonos meets Nikki Beach theme as an ode to their Mykonos engagement and love for Nikki Beach Clubs. The DJ played chilled house music all afternoon while everyone simply had a fun time rejuvenating.

 The finale event was the reception that took place the same evening. The setup for this was sophisticated and elegant. The decor played around whites and mirrors, with mirrored tabletops and gorgeous white flowers, centrepieces with candles and fairy lights. Saxophonist Ryan Sadri was brought on board and created a classy and timeless ambience with his performance. Anj opted for a scintillating silver Manish Malhotra gown and Ravi wore a Hugo Boss Grey Velvet Tux Jacket. Ravi also surprised everyone including his lady love by playing the piano and making it an evening to remember for all.
