Anushka and Aditya New Delhi Shangri La Wedding

A chance meeting online that turned into a coffee date, and a lifetime of togetherness!

Sometimes a leap of faith turns into a lot more! Ask Anushka and Aditya, and they’d agree!

Meet our vivacious bride – Anushka, a Bollywood celebrity RJ and journalist based in London. And such was the B-town influence on her that she found love in Aditya… Aditya Chopra!

Having met over a coffee date, they instantly bonded and within a year decided they wanted to be each other’s happily-ever-after!

“We met online! It was around February 2019, we decided to meet for a coffee, which then turned into lunch. Then the rest they say is history! ;)” says Anushka. On their very first meeting in person, they hit it off. Aditya made her laugh a lot and this was a very important point for Anushka. Post their first date, Aditya messaged, asking her if she’d like to meet again and they did so in the following week. Soon, they were planning dates very often. But how did she decide he was the one for her?

“He was quite funny on the first date and also because we hit it off instantly, it made my heart happy!” – Anushka. Plus, as per the bride, the most important thing was that they both felt a deep, unconditional love for each other. “To love and be loved in return is truly the most precious feeling.”

While both their parents knew about their love story, they were super happy and excited from the very first day for the couple. So, it was only a matter of time before they decided to tie the knot to seal the deal.

The Proposal

Aditya had planned a very special proposal for his lady love Anushka. “Well, we were at his cousins’ house for dinner with the entire clan and the evening was coming to an end. I’m sitting on the sofa and the next thing you know he’s down on one knee?! I just burst into tears!!!” says Anushka.

Search for the Wedding Venue

They both wanted to get married in Delhi as they both belonged to the capital city. They had decided to get married on the 28^th of February 2020 – exactly a year after they met each other. Their chosen dates were the busiest dates as per the wedding calendar, and therefore, they were fortunate that Shangri La in New Delhi was available on these dates! Plus, it fits their budget really well.

They both wanted a simple, elegant and an intimate well. And while they both had hectic careers to manage, their wedding planning was smooth thanks to the best wedding planners, Designer Events Inc. “They were literally by my side every second of the way. I couldn’t have done ANYTHING without them.” – Anushka.

The Wedding Festivities

The wedding celebrations were spread over three days. The ceremonies began with the Sagan with close family and friends. It was followed by a fun mehendi ceremony in the morning which was super fun and vibrant as Anushka had envisioned it to be. The Sangeet night saw a lot of dancing and drinking with friends and family too.

For the Sagan, Anushka wore a beautiful burgundy off-shoulder gown and Aditya matched her in a beige-gold and maroon kurta and bandi jacket.

For the mehendi ceremony, as it was a day-time function, pastel green floor-length dress with florals and beadwork. The mehendi decor matched the fun vibe completely!

For the sangeet, an evening function, the couple matched each other in royal blue! Anushka wore a stunning one-shoulder choli paired with a lehenga with gold embroidery all over. And the decor for the night matched their colours to a TEE!

“The next day was our sunshine yellow Haldi, followed by the wedding and reception at night. I’d always imagined my wedding day to be very traditional, but with a touch of modern, and that is exactly how it was.” – Anushka.

For the Haldi ceremony, Anushka wore a stunning yellow-gold suit that matched her happy mood 🙂

For her wedding night, Anushka wore a beautiful red lehenga and completed her look with gold and polki jewellery. Again, the decor matched the bride’s ensemble.
