Aaqyl & Naomi Goa : ‘When two souls got together to learn, love multiplied and formed an equation of eternity’

Aaqyl & Naomi Goa : ‘When two souls got together to learn, love multiplied and formed an equation of eternity’

“Love is a friendship set to music.” —  Joseph Campbell

Engineering college days proved to be challenging as well as life-changing for Naomi and Aaqyl. Introduced to each other by a group of common friends in college, it was not until ‘Math’ played cupid for this couple to realize that they had not just found a great buddy but a soulmate for life in each other! Just how opposites attract, Naomi and Aaqyl’s diversely different interest in the subject got them together. Aaqyl started teaching Naomi, helping her with the concepts and by default they ended up spending a lot of time together. They started understanding each other and in the process realized they had a lot in common. And that they wanted the same things in life! This was the beginning to a solid partnership (and Naomi’s now confident tryst with Math!)

The Proposal

There was no elaborate or planned proposal in Naomi and Aaqyl’s story. After being together for a while, the couple knew that they wouldn’t mind being together for life. Marriage seemed like the most natural progression and they decided to take the leap. However, the precious memories of all the time they spent travelling together and taking long drives to different hill stations across India, walking around exploring new places, surrendering to beautiful sunsets, relishing delicious local delicacies at every place they travelled are the things that really sealed the deal for them. With such a treasure trove of moments to reminiscing, a formal proposal wasn’t needed. It is like saying that when you can read the silences, there is no need to spell it out:)

The Wedding

Seeking the blessings of their respective parents, who were more than happy with the couple’s decision to walk the aisle, Naomi and Aaqyl prepared themselves to finally be man and wife!

The bride’s mom and groom’s mom both happen to be Goan’s (a case in coincidence we say!) and hence Goa is like a second home to the families. Though they initially planned to get married in Mumbai itself, it was Aaqyl’s dad who suggested a lovely water-front wedding in Goa.

With the destination and venue (Bay 15) in place, the couple divided their time between work and like a dream team, started meticulously planning and prepping for their bid day. Elaborating on how they went about with it Naomi says, “We pretty much divided our work and took timely updates on what’s happening. Be it the décor or photographer we would run the pros and cons of each vendor past each other and that is how we pretty much planned most of the wedding. If I took charge of something it was like my department and seeing it through was my responsibility.”

With that level of coordination and understanding, it’s not surprising that they chose to be one team for life!

All geared for a lovely two-day nuptial affair, the couple were keen on making it a blissful experience for all. Hence they ensured every detail was planned to the t. Being a sea-facing venue, ‘marine’ was chosen as the theme. Adorned with a lot of whites and blues and starfish-shaped decor pieces, table seating with beach elements like sand and shells the venue was a vision to behold. Even the boutonnieres for the groomsmen and bridesmaid accessories had blues with tinges of beach elements in them.

Day 1 of Naomi and Aaqyl’s destination wedding in Goa commenced with the church rituals. They exchanged nuptial vows in front of God, families and friends. Naomi looked like a dream in her splendid white wedding gown and the man of the hour Aaqyl, looked dapper in a smart black tux. Post the church ceremony, they headed to the venue for a reception that was packed with a lot of music, dance and fun!

Day 2 was reserved for a fun cocktail party on the beach (this couple clearly knows how to make the most of a Goan affair!) This was again a night filled with music, laughter, cheers, beers and dance.

One can only imagine the kind of fun-wedding this must be!
