Opal & Ollie Goa : Uber Pinterest-y Wedding Green Wedding held in Ashwem, Goa

As much as we love the shor-sharaaba of Big Fat Indian Weddings, weddings with smaller audiences seem to be leaving a lasting impact on us. There’s something so special about the rustic weddings held far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, with full focus on the love rather than the décor, catering or the stress of having to accommodate 19 other family members in your 3BHK in Andheri, East. Small numbered destination weddings is a trend that has got all our heads nodding  – Yes! 

The wedding of Opal & Ollie in December 2015 was probably the one of the coolest and funnest ones we've seen. I got an email from her late one night, and three words from it imprinted themselves in my brain within seconds; Goa, Villa, sixteen people (including the bride and groom). – says Richa Kashelkar, their wedding photographer at this utopian wedding held in the land of the most beautiful sunsets.

She likes to describe this couple as the embodiment of chill, and boy, do we agree! Not many people would give up the colorful mehendi ceremonies and LED lit sangeets for a union so mild and minimal. Opal and Ollie along with their families travelled together for more than a month and wrapped it up with their sweet wedding ceremony held in the backyard of a tastefully designed villa in Ashwem, Goa.

A backyard wedding? In India? That happens? We can probably credit this style of marriage to the fact that neither the bride or groom were Indian. We’re pretty sure, if it’s an Indian marriage, it has got to be big! And even if we gave elopement a shot, we’re sure there would still be 27 other people who would come to watch the action. But as for Opal and Ollie, everyone present added up to a number of sweet sixteen which included the uber chill bride and groom.

The nuptials were held in a backyard under a lush green tree with a bamboo frame for an altar. Ollie looked like a vision in white in her laced high-low wedding dress. With minimal makeup, a delicate maangtikka and no footwear.

With all the components of something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, Opal and Ollie became one in the most unconventional, yet the most beautiful way. With little elements of Indian-ness like the Arabic mehendi designs and the delicate maangtikka, this ceremony became even more special.
