Akhil & Ratica Mumbai : This couple’s quirky wedding is a movie buff’s dream!

Imagine having a wedding that’s basically one big Bollywood movie! Well, that’s exactly how our exuberant bride Ratica tied the knot with her own Raj Malhotra, Akhil! From tiny personalisation to add that extra oomph, to big, romantic, almost Karan Johar-esp gestures, this wedding is a romance movie buff’s dream!

The Couple

Ratica and Akhil have known each other since school, sparking off their kahani amidst skinned knees and crooked smiles. “After 10th he moved out and I stayed back in school and obviously lost touch. After 10 years almost we met again through a common school friend.. Akhil was working as a chef in a restaurant. We met a couple of times first with friends and then started meeting alone. Within a month on 1st July,2016 we started dating.” gushes the bride. 

If this isn’t a movie scene from Chef, then we don’t know what is!

The Mehendi

You’re lying if you say that you never wanted a scene in your life where John Cusack is holding up a boombox outside your window. Every girl we know, would killl for a boyfriend who does that! Well, as luck would have it, Akhil is the perfect fiance!

“Akhil gatecrashed my mehendi ceremony, bringing with him a band playing my favorite song and my favorite chaat-wala!” says Ratica. Well, isn’t that the best Bollywood version of that movie?

The Sangeet

Bridal entries don’t always have to be serious or gala, as is prooved by Ratica and her soap-bubbles entry into ITC Grand Central, Mumbai!

“Our sangeet wasn’t all Bollywood, of course. Akhil is a huge fan of superman so of course my dance routine included a number with all his friends wearing an apron with the Superman logo!” reminsces Ratica.

The Wedding

A fuschia pink lehenga that we couldn’t tear our eyes away from, was Ratica’s wedding lehenga. Handed down from her mother, Ratica made a few changes to it, such as adding quirky latkans! We also love how Akhil, the groom wore Darth Vader cuflinks as a personal touch to his sherwani.
