Karan & Sonali Hua Hin : This bride’s cool, quirky and offbeat wedding themes are taking over Instagram!

Karan & Sonali Hua Hin : This bride’s cool, quirky and offbeat wedding themes are taking over Instagram!

Sonali and Karan, who met 6 years ago through mutual friends, just took their vows at a destination wedding at Sheraton, Hua Hin, Thailand. From quirky themes for each function to some of the most gorgeous and unique lehengas that we’ve seen, this bride’s planning pulled off the coolest wedding ever!

The Proposal

The best kind of proposals are the ones that are intimate and pulled off with the help of friends and family! Sonali says,

“We had just returned from a friend’s wedding in Dubai so I wasn’t expecting at all! My family and a few friends helped Karan organize it and while all this was being planned I was absolutely clueless. My friend had asked me to join her and
her friend she had visiting for diner at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel which has been one my favorite go to spots in Bangkok, so I was super excited. When I reached she and I was sipping on a glass of wine, waiting for her “friend” to show up, and then she slipped to the “bathroom”. Minutes later the waiter delivered 100 red roses to my table in a vase covered with pictures of Karan and I through the years and that was when I realized what was going on! He sent me a letter asking me to meet him in the garden and that was where he proposed!”

The Venue

When searching for a venue, there are several factors that come into play. While choosing her venue, Sonali, the bride says “We set for Sheraton Hua Hin Resort & Spa as we wanted a destination venue yet something close and convenient to travel from Bangkok. Also, we wanted to choose a hotel that had more experience with Indian Weddings and Sheraton Hua- Hin was definitely one of those!”

The Mehendi

“Both Karan and I wanted to wedding to reflect our personalities and vibe, which is more of the elegant, chic, and less is more vibe. For my mehndi we went with the yellow and white combination with more of the Indian décor accents. While
the welcome dinner was more a complete white theme with cabana style décor as it was placed outdoor! Unfortunately, we got rained in which was a bummer, but that is something you learn through this process that all might not go as planned but it’s the crowd and vibe that makes the party, so even though we had to execute plan B we still had a blast!”

The Photo Diary by Monisha

No one can refute that one of the most important vendors in any wedding is the photographer. How else are you going to relive those amazing moments from your big day! Sonali spoke to us about choosing The Photo Diary as her photograher, “I attended an engagement in Bombay and the Photography and Videography was by The Photo Diary. That was the first time I had heard of them. I followed them for a while and really liked their work. Their work is unique to me as they are both modern and traditional with their captures and choices of music and etc. The team is also super warm easy to work with and it is obvious that they are all such creative people! I am so glad I decided to work with them it has been great!”
