What if I get my period on the day of the wedding? – Weddingz Advice #23

Having your period on the wedding day is something every bride has dreaded or at least thought about once during the wedding planning process. Well, the mind readers that we are, we have answers for you even before you ask. Yes, we live inside your heads dear brides-to-be. So, what if you get your period on your wedding day?, FRET NOT!

Even if you haven’t taken into account this possibility, it’s best to be prepared for it. If your menstruation cycle is regular and you work like a clock then good for you! However, there are many women who have irregular cycles and may end up having their period on the wedding day! Even if you are regular, you may start your period earlier or later than usual due to all the stress and thus its best to be prepared for Aunt Flo!

Prevention is always better than cure! So dear ladies, take note and spread the good word! Check with your gynaecologist if you suspect a visit from the ovary monster on your wedding day. If you have already started, you can always ask your doctor to prescribe a pill which would ease the pain so you can go about the rituals without fail!

Okay, it may be an old advice but it’s a useful one. After all, you wouldn’t want to be trapped in the loo without one handy, would you? Put a set of napkins in your bag, trousseau and even your honeymoon travel bag if you are leaving immediately. Better be safe than sorry!

It’s best to confide in a few of your close friends so they can keep an eye on your outfit and stay nearby in case you need something urgently – like a napkin or may be a dark chocolate? And of course, you have to tell your fiancé, you ARE going to marry him!

No, we don’t mean all that alcohol being served during the reception! (Although a few drinks never hurt anyone). We know it’s true for every bride but more so for the ones with the cramps. Keep sipping on herbal tea, fruit juice and water throughout the day and your cramps will be much easier to tolerate.

Wear Comfortable Shoes!

Well you cannot possibly change your outfit at the last moment, but you can definitely DITCH those heels! Choose comfy flats which would make walking around so much easier. Also, make sure there are low seating options where you can rest when time permits.

Not because you have to but because you want to! After all, it is one of the most special days of your life and your partner in crime for life awaits you, isn’t it?

Wait, all this while you have been thinking that you have to give up your first night experience? Oh No! We do our research well. It is completely safe to have sex during your period as long as you maintain hygienic conditions and take the usual precautions. Of course, both you and your partner have to be comfortable with the idea. In fact, the hormonal fluctuations often make a woman more *ahem* passionate than usual. ;) So if you are planning to go for it, don’t forget to carry the extra sheets and towels or you have to call for housekeeping and give the most awkward explanation!
