Venkatesh & Arti Mumbai : A Traditionally Resplendent Tamilian Marriage

Venkatesh & Arti Mumbai : A Traditionally Resplendent Tamilian Marriage

Few rituals and traditions in marriage becomes an opportunity to know how rich and meaningful Indian culture is. Venkatesh and Arti’s union gives us a tour of to witness the same, through their wonderful Tamilian wedding.

The marriage took place in Mumbai’s famous MCA grounds. Venkatesh was dressed in a bright coloured lungi for the Kashi Yatra ritual with a cane stick in his hand and an umbrella over his head. Aarti was draped in a beautiful pink saree for the Muhuratham. The bride and the groom were welcomed by their parents who washed their feet as a sign of good omen, moments before entering the mandap. During the Saptapadi, the groom held the bride’s left hand in his right and walked around the sacred fire, seven times. The playful Varmala Ceremony had the groom put the garland over the bride’s head three times. The bride sitting on her father’s lap is a symbolic act of giving her away to the groom. But out of all, what stood out in this marriage was the bride’s outstanding make-up and jewelleries. She wore a kajal that gave stunning details to her smokey eyes and complimented her fair complexion. Gold jhumkas, necklaces and a pearl mathapatti gave her a Goddess- like appearance. Let’s have a closer look at their wedding photographs…
