Dhvanil & Priyanka Kovalam : Beach, bunch of buddies and a whole lot of fun- this couple had a dreamy destination wedding!

For those who are water babies, love the beach and want their wedding to -be one big party, take cues from this couple…

About the lovebirds

Priyanka and Dhvanil always knew about each other and had a bunch of mutual friends. However, owing to the fact that Dhvanil was in India and Priyanka was in New York for a duration of about six years, love had to wait!

Once Priyanka was back, they met at one of their mutual friend’s cocktail and from there began a love story which led to a ‘Happily Ever After…’

They started dating in 2015 and in the first month of dating they knew they both saw a future together. They discussed this early on and fortunately, both of them seemed to be on the same page.

The bride says and I quote, “We could be honest and authentic with each other. There was no pretence and everything seemed very natural and fun.”

What’s best?

Dhvanil was working on a project in Sri Lanka while the two were dating. He used to fly back home every Friday only to spend 1.5 days with Priyanka and then would take a flight back to Sri Lanka on Sunday. Throughout the week they would share cute messages and make each other feel extremely special. Not only this, their love was strong enough to withstand a long-distance relationship for a year when Dhvanil had to go to Canada for work.

The proposal

“I wanted a surprise proposal and Dhvanil did exactly that. He booked the area near the poolside at the Oberoi, decorated the place with hundreds of candles and got a menu customised by the chef. He knew I am a foodie so he went for various food tastings only to ensure that everything was perfect. It was a magical proposal!”

Wedding Planning

Both Priyanka and Dhvanil had their own businesses and thus, the flexibility of time really helped them to plan their wedding better. It was stressful, but they managed to balance it well. Tons of research went into the wedding planning process- from scouting websites and Instagram pages to speaking to friends to searching for vendors, Priyanka did it all!

The Wedding Festivities

A couple smitten with each other having a fun time by the beach was what the couple’s pre-wedding shoot comprised of.

A pool party marked the beginning of the wedding functions and the bride and groom had a rocking time!

This was followed by a reception. Priyanka was dressed in a green lehenga with gold work, while Dhvanil wore a crisp black blazer, a white shirt, and a contrasting red tie.

The ensemble which caught our eyes the most was the bride’s purple heavy embellished lehenga, paired with a beautiful diamond jewellery set. For the wedding, the bride stuck to a red traditional lehenga, while the groom wore an elegant beige and gold sherwani paired with an emerald necklace.

Ladies, if you are scouting for a cocktail ensemble, inspiration from this demure bride who wore a scintillating beige gown with embroidered leaf-like motifs. Not too miss her dainty diamonds and baby breaths as her hair accessory.

About the photographer

“Awesome! He was easy, candid didn’t push us to pose in ways he needed. He did not coerce us to do anything and there was not stressful at all. If we needed anything changed he complied and was generally amazing to work with!”
